‘Par amour pour Philou’

9 aprile, 2013

The album ‘Par amour pour Philou’ is being released today. Following in the footsteps of ‘Berceuses pour Philou’, which earned the Félix award in 2009 for the best instrumental album, this new album is a compilation of exceptional pianists from the world of jazz, classical music and pop.

André Gagnon, Oliver Jones, Stephan Moccio, Lorraine Desmarais, Florence K, Benoît Sarrasin, Coral Egan, François Bourassa, Yves Léveillé, Isabelle Cyr, Matt Herskowitz, Julie Lamontagne and François Dompierre all came together to produce this album, and the proceeds from its sales will once again be entirely donated to Centre Philou, which aides severely handicapped children and their families.

For almost twenty years now, I have personally known Diane Chênevert and Sylvain Brosseau, parents of Philippe – nicknamed Philou – who was born in 2000 and suffers from severe cerebral palsy. These two wonderful people founded the Centre Philou in 2002 to welcome physically disabled children of up to twelve years of age for periods that can vary from two days to three weeks at a time.

Situated in Montreal’s Outremont/Côte-des-Neiges borough, open everyday, 24 hours a day/365 days a year, this centre provides invaluable help to hard hit families, while encouraging children to develop their skills in a fun-filled environment.

I invite you to watch this video (in french), in which the Publicist and philanthropist Alain Labonté shows us some of the centre’s activities.

But more importantly, you can offer practical support by purchasing the ‘Par amour pour Philou’ album!
